Welcome

 WELCOME

I want to welcome you with open books and stacks to read. My name is Karen, and I am a reading sloth. I know most people claim to be worms or dragons, but I know I am a sloth. I work over 50 hours a week, take care of my family, and I love to read, but I am not reading as much as I should. I do have books stacked in every corner of my home. With this blog I am attempting to achieve 3 major changes. (history lesson coming up, sorry.)

  1.

My family are all reader. That is how my love for reading started, as I got older (in my late teens to early 20) my love became unconcerned, but my finding new books and purchasing them. That picked up. I worked at a bookstore. I had no real bills, I lived with my parents. I became a collector. Buying 30 to 40 books a month and reading 1or 2. I guess a hoarder more than a collector. Then life changed again, I was out on my own, I had a bed, kitchen table and 2 bookcases full of books. My love came back to me, I neglected it for years, but it was still there waiting for me. I stopped buy and started reading. My tbr dwindled as I read 8 books a month. My shelves emptied and I was happy. Then my 30s came along and I meet the man who was to become my husband. Sorry reading I need to see where this goes, I promise to read but not as much. I did keep that promise for a while reading 50 to 60 books a year. Five years later I married him and became a stepmother too two children. Life picked up reading slowed down as I adjusted to my new life. The hoarding came back I discovered book tube, and my buying skyrocketed. I was still reading but only about 30 to 35 books a year, my buying was about 30 to 50 books every 2 months. Now life has settled kids are gone and it is me, my husband and over 600 books. I want to find my love and rekindle that spark we had so many years ago. If reading will take me back. We can start slow 3-4 books a month and go from there. That may be my new normal but I am willing to try harder and stay faithful if you give me one more chance.

In other words I want to read my shelves down. It was a long story but now you understand my journey.

2.

I am invested. I bought a notebook to track how many pages a day I read a day. I am human, and this social media (as it is called) does distract me like everyone else. With that in mind I want to make reading a daily habit. I want to read a little every day and then I can up it my goal right now is to read 50 pages a day. After the last paragraph let's make it short and sweet.

3.

To find bookish friends. I did not marry a reader. I have come to terms with that, but I want to discuss what I am reading and discover new books and authors. I know blogs are basically obsolete now, but I want a sort of diary to keep myself accountable and honest. No one may read this but if they do even better.

So those are my reasons for this blog and if it works out and I am successful I will turn it into a booktube channel and see where we go from there.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy reading
